Sodium Bicarbonate / Baking Soda (Food Grade) - Many bath bomb suppliers use feed grade or technical grade baking soda as it is a cheaper alternative. We opt to use food grade as suppliers providing this level have to adhere to strict safety regulations. Manufacturers of food grade guarantee that there will be no harmful impurities as this is made for consumption. Feed grade and industrial grade can have many harmful impurities as these are used for fire extinguishers, treatment plants and plastic moldings - technical and feed grade are NOT intended for applications that relate directly or indirectly with humans.
Citric Acid (Food Grade) - Much like the above, we believe in safety first and will only use food grade citric acid. Citric acid is found naturally in citrus fruits, especially lemons and limes. The manufactured form of citric acid is commonly used as an additive in food and nutritional supplements. For bath bombs, it is the part that gives the explosive reaction. Citric Acid is also used to stabilize or preserve products and can serve as a natural disinfectant.
Water (Distilled) - We never use tap water due to the instability. We always use bottled distilled water in our formulations.
Sunflower Oil - Sunflower oil is the non-volatile oil pressed from the seeds of the sunflower. Sunflower oil is commonly used in cosmetic formulations as an emollient. Sunflower oil is primarily composed of linoleic acid, a polyunsaturated fat, and oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat. The vitamin E in sunflower oil has antioxidants that help to keep skin looking young and fresh. Sunflower oil also contains linoleic acid, which helps your skin retain moisture so it becomes less dry.
Fragrance Oil - All of our non-natural fragrance oils are sourced locally in Canada from suppliers with strict safety standards and quantity manufacturing practices. These fragrance oils are always free of Parabens, Phthalates, Lyral, and Lilial.
Bath Bomb Colors - In the color collection under The Bath Bomb Company brand you will find water color changing bath bombs that are formulated using Bath Bomb Colors (Blue 1, Yellow 6, Yellow 5, Red 40, Neon Pink and Neon Purple). We never use more than 2g per mix making the amount per bath bomb less than .10g each. Please also consider that when added to a tub full of water (40-80 gallons), the bath bomb color becomes highly diluted making it a very safe option for bath bombs.
